This post is part of CampusReform.org's guide to the nation's top 100 colleges. Each day, CampusReform.org profiles a different college, examines its political climate, and offers items of interest to conservative students, parents, and alumni. Click here to see the full list of college profiles.

Fordham University was established in 1841as an independent, Jesuit university in what is now the Bronxs in New York City. The 85-acre campus has been called an oasis in the city, with Gothic architecture, towering trees, and a manicured landscape. Fordham enrolls 14,544 students, of which 7,950 are undergraduates, and has remained in the top tier of American Catholic universities since its founding.

Campus Life

Fordham has 12 political student organizations of which six are liberal and six are conservative.

The six liberal groups are Amnesty International, Progressive Students for Justice, Muslim Students Association, Pride Alliance, Rainbow Alliance, and the College Democrats.

The six conservative groups are the College Republicans, Respect for Life, Right to Life, The Liberty Forum, Young Conservatives of Fordham, and Young Americans for Liberty. The italicized groups are affiliated with CampusReform.org's Campus Leadership Program, which provides free advice, assistance, and support.

The conservative groups are active on campus. For example, Respect for Life had a busy spring semester during which the group hosted a movie night and brought a pro-life speaker to campus. Both activities helped to improve the quality of the group and increase its membership.
